The practice of Feng Shui is considered an art form. It comes from the Chinese practice, that was developed over 3,000 years ago, of positioning objects and looking for energetic patterns that exist. There are positive and negative forms of energy and there is yin and yang. You can have too much of one or the other but everything is in relation to each other. If we learn to be able to observe these patterns we can live a more harmonious life. One could equate this to studying weather patterns. If you know what to look for, you can see when there is a hurricane coming.

The term Feng Shui translates in English to “wind-water”. There are many different schools of Feng Shui. Some of these are the Black Sect school, The Eight Mansions, The Flying Star and the Medicine Wheel Feng Shui.

All of the schools have overlapping concepts. But the most important element is the balancing of energies whether it’s in your home, workspace, garden or community that will enhance the lives of the individuals using the space and bring harmony and good fortune.

In addition to this we must consider the energetic patterns of nature or the elements of nature which include water, fire, wood, earth and metal. Having to much of any or not enough can also cause a disconnect in your environment and reduce our life force energy.

There are invisible forces that bind us all together, our universe, our earth and ourselves. We can use these to help us in different areas of our lives. In addition, imagine if we were to use these invisible forces when setting up a community and the nature that encompasses it. The beauty that could be achieved would undoubtedly be magnificent.
